PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy)

Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) is an additional screening available exclusively for couples undergoing an IVF program. PGT-A helps identify embryos that have missing or extra chromosomes. When such abnormalities are detected, the condition is referred to as aneuploidy.

The risk of aneuploidy increases with maternal age or due to genetic factors from either the mother or the father. Aneuploidy can lead to miscarriage or genetic disorders.

Why be concerned about aneuploidy?
Embryos with aneuploidy often fail to implant successfully. Even when implantation occurs, these embryos frequently result in miscarriage. In cases where a baby with aneuploidy is born, they are at higher risk for genetic conditions—Down syndrome being one of the most common outcomes.
